SOUL FOOD 2K8 SUMMER CAMP
$1,000.00 "Fresh Thinker" Scholarship

A $1,000.00 scholarship offered to one camper who comes up with a fresh, "out of the box" idea to win souls to Christ through the arts. See guidelines below.

Main Purpose: To reward/assist creative young leaders in winning souls to Christ through the arts.

Main Requirement: Applicants will come up with a fresh, "out of the box" idea to win souls to Christ through the arts. This project MUST begin at camp July 7th – 12th. This can be a long-term or a short-term idea. Examples: a film or cartoon campaign; advertisements; stage shows; music; video games; dance; musical; art sculptures; TV series; etc…

Presentation: Applicants will present their ideas to our camp judges in a 3-6 minute presentation on the closing day of Soul Food 2K8 Summer Camp. The judges will include at least 1 professional in the industry that the applicant is presenting the idea. Applicants will present the details of their ideas on paper, however, their Saturday presentation will have as little talking as possible. They can enlist the help of their instructors, other campers, their family or friends, research, etc. to aid in their presentation. The judges can ask questions and give immediate feedback after the presentation ("American Idol" style). Presentations should be as creative as possible. Drama, music, film, dance, and interactive media presentations are all encouraged.

Award Divisions: This year there is only one division of the "Fresh Thinker" Scholarship. It will NOT be divided by age groups (i.e.: 7-10, 11-14, 15-18) and/or art form (i.e.: Visual, performing, etc.)

Judging Qualifications: Applicants' ideas will be judged on the basis of: Originality, Plausibility, Creativity, Presentation, etc.

Possible Award Restrictions: The scholarships may be withheld / revoked on the basis of: dropping out of school/college; unwed pregnancy; imprisonment; falling under a certain GPA etc.

Payments: Music winner: Winner may select any one of our reputable Fine Arts Institution or "professional artist." Payment will be made monthly directly to the Institution. Dance or drama winner: Winner will be awarded $1,000.00 in scholarship training with Off Stage Dance and Theatre Company (OSD&TC). Payment will be made on a monthly basis directly to OSD&TC. Dare to Dance, Inc. will request all receipts and may require a monthly report directly from institution or professional artist.

ADDITIONAL SCHOORARSHIPS:
A total of 10 day-camp scholarships ($150.00) will be awarded. Simply have your child answer the following questions in the form of an essay.
1. Applicants must complete the scholarship application.
2. Applicants must write a two part comprehensive essay on the topic:
a) How Can "I" Further God's Kingdom with my talent(s) at this age?
b) What Am "I" Doing About It Today?
3. Children ages 7-13 years are required to write 100 words or more.
4. Youth ages 13-18 years are required to write 200 words or more.
